In
January 2003, Val Willis lost her
beloved daughter, Kenra Willis, to
cancer. Shortly afterwards, life
changed again for Val when she sold me
Kenra's Willaway Farm. Val stayed on
for six months and we became close
friends. By the time Val (83 years old
at that time) moved back to Ottawa, she
had found a special scribbler of Kenra's,
written when she was 11 years old, and
with a brilliant determination, Val
turned it into the wonderful book "My
Horse, My Passion". Val has had several
printings of this special book, giving
much of the proceeds to Cancer research
at the Almonte Hospital;
sharing it with school children and has
sent it cantering around the world to
bring pleasure to people of all ages.
This link offers a few of the many
articles that have been written about
Val and the book.
It
was truly a "miracle" that Val and I
found each other. We are kindred
spirits and she is now my second Mother
and I am her companion daughter. She
has been well and truly adopted into my
extended family and shares in the joy we
all feel as Kenra's dream of Willaway
grows and changes and is enjoyed by
many.
Thank you Val,
Susan xo
